Messages forwarded to groups have been cracked down on WhatsApp. Fake news and misinformation will no longer be spread! According to the latest update from WhatsApp, forwarding already forwarded messages will come with new restrictions and limits. WaBetaInfo, a site which tracks WhatsApp beta updates, reports a new limit on forwarding messages in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.7.2 update. This limit prevents users from sending the forwarded messages to more than one group chat at a time. WhatsApp’s forwarded messages limitation is now rolling out to its iOS and Android versions as well.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp does not allow forwarding the message to more than one group chat at a time. Users of WhatsApp should be aware that the new limit applies only to messages that have already been forwarded.
Rest assured, you can forward a new message to up to five different chats at the same time. As a result of a message being forwarded through at least five chats, it is accompanied by a label that says “Forwarded many times” with a double arrow denoting that it is at least five times away from the sender.
WhatsApp said in a blog post that these messages can only be forwarded to one chat at a time, to protect conversations on the messaging app. It also aims to stop rumors, viral messages, and fake news from spreading. Additionally, messages with a single arrow with a ‘Forwarded’ tag can share up to five chats at once. Now that a new update has been released, you will only be able to forward a message to one group chat per forwarded message.
With the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.11 update, WhatsApp has extended the forward message limitation to more Android users. The same changes will soon be available to more WhatsApp users.
