Meta Platforms, the company that owns Facebook, is testing tools for selling digital assets and experiences within its virtual reality platform Horizon Worlds, part of its plans to create a metaverse.
Meta said in a statement that the tools will initially be available to handpicked users who create virtual classes, games, and fashion accessories using the company’s immersive platform, which can be accessed via VR headsets.
Select users will have the option of selling their accessories or providing paid access to their specialized digital spaces, the company said.
The social network is also testing a “creator bonus” program for a small group of Horizon Worlds users in the United States, through which participants will be paid each month for using new features the company introduces.
